Benicia Food Programs Calendar

ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM OF THE BENICIA PUBLIC LIBRARY

Provides one-on-one tutoring, computer lab, conversation groups, and writing workshop for Adult Literacy and ESL Learners.

COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER

The Community Resource Center (CRC) (formerly known as the Family Resource Center) is now a part of the Benicia Community Services Department. The CRC provides resources for local families, referrals to services, basic needs assistance, and a variety of other services.

BENICIA COMMUNITY ACTION COUNCIL

Helps Benicia residents through various provisions including rental assistance, employment training, benefits counseling, and transportation and meal services to home-bound seniors.

BENICIA HOUSING AUTHORITY

Provides affordable rental housing to low-income Benicians, including seniors. Also administers the Section 8 Program in Benicia. The wait list is currently closed (as of 3/11/25).

Oversees and manages city funding of selected non-profits which serve the needs of Benicia citizens.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES

Offers health and social service programs that contribute to the individual's freedom and independence. Services include counseling, immigration assistance, Cal Fresh enrollment, information and referrals, parenting and domestic violence classes.

FAMILIES IN TRANSITION

Provides assistance with overdue rent and/or utilities for Benicia families in financial crisis Hot Line: 707-645-3000 (Messages left will be answered within 24 hours).

FOOD IS FREE (at the Benicia Senior Center)

From 11am-12PM on the third Wednesday of each month, people may get free groceries from Food Is Free at the Benicia Senior Center. You do not need to be a senior to receive the food. 

The third Saturday of each month Food Is Free is adjacent to the Benicia Public Library, from 10AM until 12PM.

ST. PAUL'S COMMUNITY MEALS

Monday and Wednesday 4.30p-6p, take out style. Groceries and fresh fruit available.

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL

Provides home delivery of food to Benicians in need. May also provide other types of assistance on a case-by-case basis.
