AT THE BENICIA PUBLIC LIBRARY, ADULTS CAN:

Whether you simply want to enjoy a comfy chair near the fireplace area or need to use one of our computers to browse the internet or print, or you have your own device and want to access our free Wi-Fi, we have you covered.

Take time to browse our collection including the latest books, DVDs and magazines and don’t forget to check out the current exhibit in the Marilyn Citron O’Rourke Art Gallery.

Programming:The Library sponsors a variety of programming including music, tax preparation, author readings, workshops, and more.

Poetry/Writers Group: The Library sponsors the Poet Laureate program with monthly poetry gatherings on the first Tuesday of the month. Additionally there is a writers’ salon that meets the first and third Friday of the month. Special poetry events and readings also occur throughout the year.

Book Clubs: The Library has a variety of book clubs that meet through the month. Books to read are provided for those interested in participating in the book club.

Marilyn Citron O’Rourke Art Gallery: Bay area artists vie for a spot in the Art Gallery calendar.

Book sales: Our Friends of the Library sponsor a monthly book sale as well as provide volunteer opportunities to assist in sorting and preparing for the sales. Become a volunteer with the Friends or become a Friends member or simply attend a book sale to support this important and dedicated group of library supporters.

Volunteering opportunities: Other adult volunteer opportunities are available to support library services in the library. We also have sporadic openings on various Library boards including the Trustees, Art Gallery Committee, Library Foundation and Arts and Culture Commission.

Online resources: A wide array of online resources is at your fingertips. Whatever your interest you can access everything from the New York Times newspaper, genealogy resources, to Consumer Reports or downloadable ebooks, audio books and magazines.
