Building Bridges Community Quilt Project - Quilt Pieces Deadline
November 7, 2025 | 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

To celebrate Ruby Bridges and her inspiring journey, the Benicia Public Library invites children to participate in a creative and meaningful activity. Children can pick up or download coloring sheet "Quilt Pieces," which feature sections of a collaborative quilt design inspired by Ruby Bridges' courageous walk to school.
Participants are encouraged to color and personalize their quilt pieces, symbolizing unity, bravery, and the right to education. Once completed, children can submit their artwork to be part of a larger "quilt" display. The individual pieces will be "stitched" together showcased throughout the public library as a vibrant, collaborative art installation in celebration of Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. This activity aims to engage young minds in history, art, and community solidarity while honoring Ruby Bridges' legacy.
“Quilt pieces” may be picked up at the Library beginning Monday, October 13. They will also be available to download and print from home at this link:

Completed pieces must be returned to the Library by Friday, November 7 for inclusion in the display. The display will be available for viewing November 14-26.
